Hyssop flower heads

The use of hyssop dates back to the ancient Greeks. It’s referenced in the Bible

Hebrews 9:19 refers to the ceremonial cleansing with hyssop.

Hyssop tea generally consists of several components, including terpenes, volatile oils, flavonoids, hyssopin, tannins and resin. These compounds have positive benefits on the body’s respirator functions, including helping the body prevent respiratory infections, asthma, chronic indigestion, excess abdominal gas, abdominal bloating, bronchitis, cuts and bruises.

Hyssop tea also has several antibiotic properties. Hyssop leaves commonly develop a mold that encourages the growth of penicillin. Penicillin is an antimicrobial molecule capable of diminishing the micro-organisms of several species by eliminating them from an organism or environment. In addition, hyssop has antibiotic properties resulting from the plant’s volatile oils. While the antibiotic properties of the volatile oils are generally strong, they only function on shallow wounds and fungus infections.

Hyssop contains several compounds that are also conducive to positive responses in the human body. Hyssop helps reduce the swelling of a wound or the effects of illness by constricting blood vessels. This constriction also slows excessive bleeding and causes the body to produce fewer wrinkles by tightening the skin. It is also helpful to joints affected by arthritis and improves circulation to the afflicted areas.

Our hyssop is pesticide free and can be shipped dried or fresh while in season (May to July)
