Yarrow - Achillea Millefolium - 2nd year root live starts

Regular price $10.00 Sale

Some perennials can be difficult to start from seed. If you manage to get them started, you could be two years away from harvesting your medicinal bounty. We want to help cut down on your wait time. These second year root starts are easy to transplant into your garden, and will produce the first spring after planting.
Our yarrow is wild and landrace (single genetic strain), growing naturally on our Ozark glade. This is the same yarrow that I work with in all of my products and teas. You’ll find it’s scent to be stronger than hybrid commercial cultivars, due to the presence of a broad range of active metabolites such as flavonoids, phenolic acids, coumarins, terpenoids (monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes) and sterols.
Simply put, this is the best choice for medicinal yarrow.

As a medicinal plant, yarrow and other Achillea species have been used as antispasmodics, astringents, carminatives, diaphoretics, stimulants, and tonics. In addition, yarrow has been used against colds, cramps, fevers, kidney disorders, toothaches, skin irritations, and hemorrhages, and to regulate menses, stimulate the flow of bile, and purify the blood. Chinese herbal medicine specifies the use of Achillea sibirica Ledeb. for stomach ulcers, amenorrhea, abdominal cramps, abscesses, snakebites, traumatic falls and bleeding, and to reduce inflammation.  Extracts of yarrow exhibit antibiotic activity and may also act as antineoplastic drugs. Contact with yarrow has been reported to cause dermatitis. Always spot test to recognize unknown plant allergies before using yarrow topically

Yarrow is generally recognized as safe in beverages only if the finished beverage is thujone-free.

Please allow up to 3 weeks for shipping, depending on when you order - We will ship the plants only during a season that they can be planted with success.

We recommend repotting your yarrow upon receiving it. Repotting and allowing the tender plant start to continue to grow and establish a strong root system, before placing outside on your garden, will give the best chance to grow abundantly in your garden.

You will receive one healthy, happy, ready to grow, second year root start. This is not a clipping, but an established whole rooted plant.
