Once holding the title for The Hottest Pepper on Earth (2007). The Ghost Pepper is 400 times hotter than Tobasco Sauce.
Over 1 Million units on the Scoville Heat Index 1,041,427 to be exact.
Fun to grow as novelty, this unique pepper is also useful very around the homestead and garden. Making your own Pepper Spray, Bear Spray, Pest control spray for your garden is possible with a healthy harvest of ghost pepper.
Of course if you’re brave you can make your own hot sauce too!
The first flavor you will notice is an intense sweet chili flavor, the heat does not kick in for 30 – 45 seconds. Once the heat kicks in, expect sweating, watery eyes, hiccups and shortness of breath. The burning generally intensifies over 10 – 15 minutes and subsides after 30 – 40 minutes.
Make sure to wear gloves while you’re harvesting seeds!
